Have you heard? The Silk Rose is now stocked at the TheStore in trendy Hoxton, London.
Last week, we talked about the benefits of gentle yet effective solutions for our skincare woes. We looked at the Mizon Bee Venom Calming Fresh Cream, and discussed why its our go-to gentle moisturiser, which lead many of you (quite rightly) to ask us “what gentle heroes should we be using for the rest of our skincare routine?”
Well, don’t say we never listen to you, because here is a deep dive on our favourite tea tree range, that is super gentle and kind to your skin.
Alas, I think the time has come to face the facts, smell the proverbial coffee and basically accept that Winter is finally upon us. And not just any kind of Winter, oh no…apparently, we’re entering the coldest Winter in almost 50 years. Which is pretty darn depressing, given that the colder and harsher the weather gets, the greater toll its going to take on our skin…as if we didn’t already have enough to deal with. Thankfully its not all doom and gloom though, after all it does give us a chance for a serious skincare overhaul, yay!
To help you battle the elements over the next few months, we’ve created a handy checklist for getting your skin Winter-ready:
Growing up, I used to mistakenly think that the tougher the problem, the more drastic a solution is required – especially when it came to my skin. When I had bouts of bad skin (be it acne or blotchiness), I used to resort to seriously harsh skincare solutions. I would douse my skin in the strongest, most drying, stripping chemically creams and potions on the market, in the hope of alleviating my skin woes. It never worked, ofcourse. All it did was prolong my misery and sometimes – unhelpfully – trigger new skin problems. Thankfully, as I have grown older and wiser, I have come to realise that tougher isn’t always better. Sometimes gentler solutions can be just as effective if not more so. And nothing in my skincare stash embodies this sentiment more than the Mizon Bee Venom Calming Fresh Cream.
I’m sure we can all agree that on a roll call of history’s most beautiful women, Cleopetra would most definitely make the list. And as much as we at The Silk Rose are huge fans of modern cosmetic innovations, we also appreciate classic beauty, which is why we were very very excited when we discovered Cleopatra’s beauty regime. I’m not saying we should all start scheduling in weekly milk and honey baths like Queen C, but if she swore by any hero ingredients to maintain her legendary beauty, then I would be a fool not to try them. I mean, if its good enough for royalty, then its good enough for me.
Oh, how I love collagen – the elusive biological building blocks of healthy, firm, youthful looking skin. Alas, as I’m getting older, I find that its increasingly becoming more of a one-way affair. I’m way more into collagen then collagen is into me. And like most unrequited loves, the less collagen I have, the more I want it. Which is why I’m eternally grateful to Mizon for creating the next best thing – the Mizon Collagen 100, an ampoule containing highly concentrated marine collagen.
This is the second post in our “Brand Spotlight” series where we will be formally introducing you to some of our cult Korean cosmetics brands, in the hope to help you – our lovely readers – become more familiar and comfortable with them. We kicked-off the series with our post on Mizon, which is definitely a tough act to follow given that they are one of the most-sought after brands by K-beauty lovers the world over. Thankfully, today we will be talking about LJH which is an equally coveted brand in its own right.
Ampoules – the most mysterious member of the Korean skincare routine. These little skincare gems are supercharged serums that deliver targeted hero ingredients to meet different skincare needs – from pigmentation to anti-ageing, and blemishes. With a lovely, light water-like consistency, they easily absorb into the skin delivering their nutrient-packed goodness. We at The Silk Rose are big proponents of ampoules – we use some as skin-boosters as and when we need a quick me up, but there are also some that have become permanent fixtures in our skincare routine, and the LJH Vita Propolis Ampoule is definitely one of them.
